Happy Thursday, Vancouver!
Yesterday’s surprise rain was the kind of plot twist only the PNW could pull off in August.

But the drama didn’t stop there! A beloved local restaurant closed its doors without warning, while another long-awaited eatery is juuuuuust about open for business. LOCAL NEWS
🗳️ August 5 Primary Results Are In!
With 27.11% voter turnout (hey, we showed some enthusiasm), the early results from the August 5th primary are hot off the presses:
🏛️ Vancouver City Council, Position #1:
Kim D. Harless is leading the pack with 56.22% of the vote, followed by Pooneh Gray at 29.43% and Ron Willis at 13.67%. The write-ins are hanging out at 0.68%. (If you wrote in Chris P. Bacon, Barb Dwyer, or Chip Munk, you’re clever!)
📚 Library Levy (Proposition No. 1):
It’s a yes for books, Wi-Fi, and all things storytime, with 54.31% voting to approve the levy lid lift. That means Fort Vancouver Regional Library is on track to keep the lights on, shelves stocked, and internet flowing. Things are gonna be lit for the Fort Vancouver Regional Library from here on out!
The official certification comes on August 19. Stay tuned…and if you voted, go ahead and feel smug!
💔 Pacific House on 192nd Has Just…Closed?!
Well, that escalated quickly. Pacific House on 192nd has officially closed its doors…and if it feels sudden, that’s because it was. Diners were still enjoying burgers and brews over the weekend, but by Monday afternoon, a sign appeared on the door and staff were seen packing up inside. No official announcement yet, but their Google listing has been updated to reflect “Permanently Closed.” Stay tuned for what (or who) moves in next.
🎉 Oswego Grill at Columbia Shores Opens on Tuesday, August 12th
When one door closes, another one opens. Local Oregon favorite Oswego Grill is bringing its wood-fired deliciousness to Columbia Shores starting Tuesday, August 12th. Steaks, seafood, craft cocktails = yes please! (P.S. we highly recommend the donut dessert 🍩🤤)
