🗳️ Election Day, National Night Out, and a Sad Local Closure

Monday, August 4th in Vancouver, Washington

Happy Monday, Vancouver!

First off, we owe our readers an apology about Friday night’s “Coco” screening in Esther Short Park. If you showed up at 6:30PM expecting “Coco” to start right on the dot, we are so sorry for the miscommunication! While the event did kick off at 6:30PM with Vancouver Arts & Music Festival pre-movie activities, the movie itself didn’t start until dusk. Moving forward, we’ll make sure start times are reely clear!

Now, onto this very important week! Our library funding is literally on the ballot, we’re saying goodbye to a beloved local business, and National Night Out returns. Oh, and of course, we’ve got lots of events to get you from Monday - Friday (please, bring on Friday ASAP!).

Here's what to expect in today's edition of The PNW Report (Vancouver)😀

LOCAL NEWS

🍺 Hopworks Urban Brewery Will Close on August 9th

It’s time to pour one out for Hopworks Urban Brewery! Hopworks is saying goodbye to its Vancouver location after service on August 9th, shifting its focus (and fresh menu) back to its OG Portland digs on Powell Blvd. Since 2016, the SE Mill Plain spot has served up hoppy pints and neighborhood vibes, and the company says a new tenant is already brewing behind the scenes. Stay brew-tiful, Hopworks!

🗳️ Don’t Forget to Vote By Tomorrow, August 5th!

Vancouver voters have some big decisions to make tomorrow. City Council Position #1 is up for grabs, and there's a crucial vote on a library levy lid lift that funds 96% of Fort Vancouver Regional Library’s budget (aka everything from storytime to Wi-Fi). Read more details about the library levy here. Ballots can be dropped off at an election drop box or mailed in as long as the postmark date is by August 5th.
