🌐 Internet Outage Strikes Vancouver Over the Weekend
On Friday and Saturday, Vancouver residents reported Quantum Fiber/Century Link going dark despite everything showing “all clear.” Apparently, the issue was linked to a widespread DNS outage that has now been resolved. If you do not know what DNS stands for, it stands for: DO NOT STREAM, because none of us could stream our favorite shows this weekend. (jkjk - DNS stands for Domain Name System - you learned something new today!)
🕌 Darbar Market Opens Its Doors
Big news for downtown foodies: Darbar Food Market has officially opened at Grand & Evergreen, and it’s everything we didn’t know we needed in this city of ours. This locally owned Middle Eastern grocery and café offers everything from za’atar pizza and falafel to halal burgers and housemade sauces. Owner Ham has thoughtfully stocked the store with local produce and meat, bulk pantry staples (bring your own jars!), fresh-baked goods, and even everyday essentials like toiletries. (Pro tip: do not leave without trying the smashburger.) Welcome to Vancouver, Darbar Food Market!
🔥 Vancouver Library Had a Small Fire This Past Weekend
The Vancouver Community Library was closed on Sunday, June 8, due to a late-night fire in the server room. Thankfully, no one was injured, and restoration is already underway. Check the main Fort Vancouver Regional Library website for updates as to when the library will reopen.
