š They Want to Put The Light Rail WHERE?!
Thursday, April 16th in Vancouver, Washington

Happy Thursday, Vancouver!
If you missed it, yesterdayās weather said āspringā and then immediately chose violenceā¦twice!! Nothing like a casual hailstorm to keep you humble and remind you your jacket choices mean nothing here.

In other local chaos, weāve got an update on the light rail plan, featuring a newly proposed stop thatāsā¦letās just say not exactly groundedā¦and a weekend lineup thatās absolutely stacked. Between pancakes, pups, pottery, and at least one farmers market impulse spiral, your calendar is about to fill up fast.
Anyways, here's what to expect in today's edition of The PNW Report (Vancouver):

LOCAL NEWS
š” Vancouverās Southcliff Neighborhood Wants to āMake It Officialā
Vancouverās Southcliff neighborhood is going for historic status, with efforts underway to get it listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Known for its curvy, mid-century street design (traffic calming and cute), itās basically been quietly historic this whole timeā¦now it just wants the paperwork to match.
š Vancouverās Light Rail Might Endā¦WHERE?!
Plans to bring light rail into downtown Vancouver just hit a pretty major plot twist: instead of connecting into the city (ending at Evergreen Boulevard), the latest proposal would have it stop 90 feet above the Vancouver Waterfront, with passengers. The change comes as costs for the Interstate Bridge replacement balloon, forcing officials to scale things backā¦for now.
On Monday, Vancouverās City Council unanimously said āabsolutely not,ā arguing that a sky-high endpoint doesnāt exactly scream āconvenient transit hubā and that they still want the MAX light rail to end at Evergreen Boulevard instead of the Waterfront. What are your thoughts?
Where should the light rail extension end? |
