š Trains, A Popular Brewery Closing, and Hobbits

Happy Thursday, Vancouver!
Weāre in that beautiful in-between stretch: summerās fading, fall is nudging, and the airās got just a hint more bite (but not quite sweater weather yet).
Oh, and donāt forget that this Saturday (9/27) is National Public Lands Day, which means free entry at every single National Park. Yes, including our very own Fort Vancouver, which is hosting an awesome event on Saturday (details down below!)
All this is happening while pumpkin is sneaking its way onto every menu in town, the leaves are gearing up to change (any day now), and our events calendar is packed tighter than a Trader Joeās pumpkin display.

š» Cheers to 10 Years: Feral Public House Says Farewell!
After a decade of bold beers and delicious eats, Heathen Brewingās Feral Public House (1109 Washington St.) is officially closing its doors on October 12, 2025. But donāt worry, the Heathen party will continue at their Salmon Creek Brewery & Kitchen. So, Vancouver, raise a pint, shed a tear, and toast to the end of an era. After all, you canāt spell feral without farewell.
š Quail Homes Submits Plan for 23-Acre Subdivision in East Vancouver
Looks like Quail Homes is ready to nest in East Vancouver, with plans for a 23-acre subdivision in Vancouver. The property (that is currently home to a single-family residence) would have 82 attached and detached residences.
š Vancouver Pours $7M Into Arts, Culture & Science
Starting in 2026, Vancouver is earmarking about $7 million annually (thanks to a new 0.1% sales tax that went into effect in April 2025) to fuel creativity, heritage, and science in the community. Think grants for local nonprofits and artists, more public programming, and cultural events. The first grant applications will open in early 2026, and we will keep you updated once they do!

Watch kitchen fire demos, a house fire simulation, vehicle extrication, and a K9 show, plus explore safety exhibits and emergency tips.
