🍕 No-go on Nonavo? Owner’s Jail Release Sparks Local Outcry

The heat is rising in Downtown Vancouver, but it’s not coming from the wood-fired oven. Joseph Chmiko, the owner of Nonavo Pizza, was just released from Clatsop County Jail last week after serving 60 days for a sexual harassment charge…and the local internet is absolutely bubbling over.

Review sites and social threads are currently a battlefield, with many neighbors calling for a total boycott of the 6th Street spot. While some still rave about the sourdough, others are saying the recent headlines leave a bad taste in their mouth.

🍎 Six-Figure Report Card: VPS Board Approves $305K Salary for New Leader

School's in session, and so is the budget! The Vancouver Public Schools board just gave the green light to a $305,000 annual base salary for our incoming superintendent, Dr. Ricardo “Rocky” Torres-Morales. Dr. Rocky is making the move from Seattle Public Schools to take the reins here starting July 1. Along with that six-figure starting point, the deal includes annual inflationary raises, a 7% retirement contribution, and even $7,000 for moving expenses.
